A - ACID FREE
Paper produced as PH neutral preventing yellowing and degradation over time. It is crucial for artists paper ensuring a long life for artworks.
A - ALCOHOL BASED MARKERS
Alcohol-based markers are pens filled with alcohol-based ink, known for vibrant colors, smooth application, and easy blending, commonly used in illustration, design, and artwork. the most well known brand is Copic Markers.
A - ARCHIVAL
Archival-quality artists’ paper is durable, acid-free paper designed to resist yellowing and deterioration, ensuring long-lasting artwork
B - BLENDING CARD
Express It Blending Card is a smooth, marker-friendly cardstock designed to enhance blending and vibrant color application with alcohol-based markers
C - COTTON
Cotton is the best raw material for producing paper. Its fibres are long and durable. Professional artist papers are always 100% cotton.
C - COLD PRESSED PAPER
Cold pressed paper is a textured watercolour paper made by passing cotton fibres through cold rollers, resulting in a slightly bumpy surface with high absorbance. It is ideal for watercolour, gouache, and mixed media due to its ability to hold water and create soft, blended or textured effects.
F - FLUORESCENT MARKERS
Bright colours that reflect more light than they receive. The fluorescent effect and colour will fade over time and should not be used for work intended to be permanent.
F - FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council. Any paper made from wood pulp and labelled with the FSC logo is certified as being respectful of the forest heritage and the people living in the same area as it was harvested from.
I - INK
Artist’s pigmented ink is a high-quality, lightfast ink made with fine pigments, offering rich, permanent colors ideal for drawing, illustration, and mixed media artwork
L - LIGHTFASTNESS
Refers to the stability of a pigment when exposed to prolonged periods of ultraviolet, found in natural sunlight. It is measured using the Blue Wool Scale in the UK, and ASTM in America. The permanence of a paint will be indicated on the label using a rating system determined by the manufacturer and explained in the manufacturer’s colour chart or on their website.
M - MEDIUM
A term used to describe the type of art materials being used.
M - MOULD MADE
Identifies papers made through mould cylinder machines. this paper has unique characteristics similar to hand made paper. These are some of the highest quality paper available.
W - WATERCOLOUR PENCILS
Watercolor pencils are colored pencils with water-soluble pigments that can be blended with water to create a paint-like effect
W - WATERBASED MARKERS
Water-based markers are pens filled with water-soluble ink, offering smooth application, vibrant colors, and easy blending, commonly used for illustration, coloring, and lettering
W - WATERCOLOUR PAINTS: TUBES AND CAKES
